5th - 9th July 2010 – NZ Junior Championship and NZ Junior Rapid, Auckland
(prizes and some tournaments details are not yet finalised, and may change)
Sponsors: "Eduvac" the education weekly, "Quality Student Diaries" the diary specialists and
"Millennium Hotels and Resorts".
Organiser: Howick-Pakuranga Chess Club.
Eligibility: Juniors only, i.e. born on or after 1st January 1990.
Championship Tournament: 7 rounds Swiss, 5th-8th July 2010.
Rapid Tournament: 6 rounds Swiss, 9th July 2010.
Championship Time Control: 80 minutes plus 20 seconds per move.
Rapid Time Control: 25 minutes plus 5 seconds per move.
Championship Prizefund: 1st $300, plus the NZ Junior Championship Trophy, the title of NZ Junior Champion. 2nd $250, 3rd
$150.
NZ Schoolpupils Champion: 1st $100.
NZ Schoolgirls Champion: 1st $100.
NZ Under 16, U14, U12, U10, U8 Champions: 1st $50.
NZ Girls’ U16, U14, U12, U10, U8 Champions: 1st $50.
The above titles and prizes are subject to a minimum of 3 entrants in each group. Players can win more than one title, but
only one cash prize.
Rapid Prizefund: 1st $200, plus NZ Junior Rapid Champion title & trophy. 2nd $150, 3rd $100.
NZ Schoolpupils Champion: 1st $50.
NZ Schoolgirls Champion: 1st $50.
NZ Under 16, U14, U12, U10, U8 Champions: 1st $50.
NZ Girls’ U16, U14, U12, U10, U8 Champions: 1st $50.

12th - 16th July 2010 - Chess Enterprises NZ North Island Chess Championship (Grand Prix Class 1), Auckland
Organiser: Chess for Miracle.
Eligibility: Open to all.
Tournament: 8 rounds Swiss. NZCF Rated.
Schedule:
Monday 12th: 11:30-12:30 registration; 12:45 players' meeting; 13:00 round 1.
Tuesday 13th: 9:30 rd 2; 15:00 rd 3.
Wednesday 14th: 9:30 rd 4; 15:00 rd 5.
Thursday 15th: 9:30 rd 6; 15:00 rd 7.
Friday 16th: 9:30 rd 8; 2:00 (approx.) prize-giving.
Time Control: 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move.
Prizefund: 1st $1000, 2nd $500, 3rd $300, 4th $200, with $500 in grade prizes and a $50 book prize (the DD Smash Prize)
awarded for the biggest upset of the tournament. The highest placed North Island resident will get the title of 2010 North
Island Champion, and the North Island Championship trophy.
Entry Fees: $80 (reductions for titled players). All NZ players must be NZCF registered ($15).

Wednesday 28th July 2010 - Auckland Girls Chess Championship, Auckland
Organiser: Waitakere Chess Club.
Eligibility: Girls only, born on or after 1st January 1992.
Four Tournaments: 3 x 6 rounds Swiss in age groups (over 12, under 12, under 10).
Time Control: 20 minutes each player per game.
Prizefund: Auckland age group titles will be awarded for under 18, under 16, under 14, under 12, under 10 and under 8,
where the ages are as at 1st January 2010 (At least three players required in each age group for title to be awarded).
All players will receive participation certificates. Trophies and medals will be posted to schools for presentation at
Assembly.
Entry Fees: $12 per person.
Venue: Mt. Albert War Memorial Hall, 751-761 New North Road, Mt. Albert, Auckland.
Schedule: Players' meeting 9 a.m., first round 9:10 a.m. sharp. The event is expected to end at 2:30 p.m.
