1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 4.d4 Nf6 5.Nf3 Bf5 6.Bc4
6.Ne5 is the normal move here, 6...c6 7.g4 is the Gruenfeld Variation. In a recent game I played 7.Bc4 rather than commit to g4 too early - it is a standard move to force Black back.

6...e6 7.Bd2 c6
7...Qb6 is safer.

8.Nd5 Qd8 9.Nxf6+ Qxf6 10.Qe2
?! Possible oversight by a GM ... most White players forget to guard the c2 pawn. Better is 10.Bc3.

10...Nd7
?! Should have taken the pawn.

11.0-0-0 Nb6
11...Bg4 is maybe better to tie down the Knight.

12.Bg5 Qg6 13.d5
?! 13.h4 to trap the Queen or 13.Bb3 to withdraw to safety and secure c2 before launching an attack are maybe better plans.

13...Nxc4 14.Qxc4 exd5 15.Rhe1+ Be6 16.Rxd5
! If 16...cxd5 17.Qb5++.

16...Be7 17.Bxe7
17. Qa4 b5 18. Qa6 may be better, but complicated.

17...cxd5 18.Qb4 Rc8 19.c3 Qg4 20.Qd6
! Wins.

20...Qa4 21.Rxe6
!! Unbelievable.

21...fxe6 22.Ne5 Qf4+
? 22...Rxc3+ 23.bxc3 Qf4+ 24. Kb1 Qe4+ 25.Kb2 Qe2+ 26.Ka3 Qa6+ 27.Qxa6 is winning for White. After 23.Kd1 Qa4+ 24.b3 Qb5 25. Bh4! Qf1+ 26. Kd2 and Black will be mated. 1-0
